You’ve done it––you’ve networked. You have a whole list of new connections and contacts. You have so many ideas, possibilities, and potential collaborations in mind. It’s so exciting, but also somewhat overwhelming.

So now what? How do you follow up with all these new connections?

Let’s approach the follow up process in a systematic way that helps you handle the overwhelm, remember why you connected with certain people, and stay organized in your follow ups.

In this episode we explore

  • Feeling overwhelmed by all the people you networked with
  • Other feelings that might come up in the follow up process
  • Jogging your memory (& theirs) after meeting so many people
  • Getting organized before you begin following up
  • Details of a collaboration follow up

Time Stamps:

[3:02] Overwhelm is optional…kind of- You can’t change the feeling, but you can shift your mindset to replace the feeling of being overwhelmed with something else.

[7:00] Rejection and disappointment don’t feel good either- It is entirely possible that you might reach out and not hear back. Ouch! You may also worry about hurting someone else’s feelings. If these things come up for you, it’s time for another mindset shift.

[9:45] Let’s jog that memory- You can take notes the old fashioned way or bring your note taking into the 21st century. Either way, you still might need some tricks to remember people and help them remember you.

[13:23] Time to get organized- A systematic way of organizing when you follow up and with who you decide to follow up with, will ensure you are prioritizing your business needs in the process of  securing your connections.

[17:08] Just dipping your toe is okay too- There might be people you want to nurture a relationship with, even if you’re not totally in a place to move forward with a partnership.  It is better for business if you know when the time is right.

[19:04] Collaboration follow up, knowing what & when- Did you network with someone who you’re ready to do something great with? There are a couple things to consider before you move forward with a collaboration.

[24:07] Getting YOUR business house in order- I would love to see you in the Unshakable Business Co-Lab to get all the pieces of your business up and running.

[25:24] Let’s recap!- There’s a lot to unpack, but I’m recapping it here just in case you missed anything!

Are you at a time in your life or business where you are not moving forward? Are you possibly stopping yourself from going forward because of the fear of failure (or even the fear of success)?

These thoughts have nestled their way into all our minds at one point or another––What if it doesn't work? What if it goes bad? What will “they” think?

If this resonates with you, then I’m here to help you not only resolve these thoughts, but to shift your thoughts and mindset to a place that will set you up for success and move your business forward.

In this episode we explore

  • Times when thoughts of failure might creep in
  • Ways to resolve the thoughts
  • The impact these thoughts have on your business and mental health
  • How to process emotions during an end or a pivot
  • How to take pieces of a misstep and repurpose what you can
  • Setting limits, using data, and adjusting your mindset

[1:30] Defining “it” when you have thoughts of failure- What is the “it” in the thought of What if it doesn’t work? Is it your business or a piece of your business?

[3:22] Are your thoughts of failure stopping you before you start?- The fear that it won’t work, or possibly even input from other people, could be stopping you in your tracks as you launch your next big idea.

[8:09] Doing your research can increase your chance for success- Market and customer research is one step in the right direction to prevent feelings of disappointment and increase your chances of success.

[10:40] Dealing with judgment- Sometimes we’re our own worst critic, but sometimes we have people who are less than encouraging. How should you handle this?

[14:15] Fear of success?- Is fearing your own success even possible? Well it turns out yes it is, and sometimes it is the thing that is holding you back!

[16:28] Thoughts of failure when you’re “in flight”- It’s rarely ever the whole business that isn’t working. When thoughts of failure creep in while you’re “in flight” there are ways to stay grounded in data and processes to make adjustments.

[20:26] Maybe the data says it's not working. Now what?- Is it time to pull the plug? Is it time to pivot?

[26:05] “What if it doesn’t work?” becomes your reality- Not all business ideas are going to be successes. So now it is time to deal with the negative feelings, which is not easy, but it is possible.

[30:33] I can help you bring your vision to life!- I would love to support you while you navigate not only your thoughts and mindset, but also the nitty-gritty details of launching your business.
